Josefina Atienza

Practice Manager, IT Manager & EA to the Managing Director

The Shoes march to get stuff done

After 3 years studying English Language & History in Barcelona, Spanish native Josefina realised that for teaching purposes, a move to an English-speaking country would greatly improve her skills.  On the recommendation of an Irish friend, she moved to Dublin in 1998 where she worked in various jobs including a crèche, a restaurant, a bank and finally joining Cooney Carey in 2003.

Alongside her role as right-hand woman to the Managing Director, Josefina’s exceptional organisational skills mean that the office is kept running like a well-oiled machine.  She’s the firm’s (self-taught) IT expert, procurement officer, a key member of the data collection and management team, plus talented interior designer and events co-ordinator.

“I do actually own a few pairs of sensible flat shoes – for when I’m outdoors hiking with friends!”

Favourite expression?
“Right so!” (an expression that works in many contexts!)
Most likely to be seen reading?
A good crime novel – she’s currently enjoying the Reilly Steel series, by Irish husband and wife writing team Casey Hill.
The Movie of Your Life – who’d play you?
Salma Hayek or Sofia Vergara (Gloria from “Modern Family”).
Where you’ll never see Josefina?
In town during Sale Season (she’ll buy online if she wants something), or in a gym.
Happy Place?
Indoors on a winter’s day, beside a crackling fire, with a good book and a hot drink!
Desert Island Disc(s)?
A group called The Piano Guys – they play classical & contemporary music on the piano and cello, perfect background music.
That Thing You’d Save in a Fire?
(without hesitation) My shoe collection!
Josefina IRL (In Real Life)
Loves to travel, anywhere and everywhere, with destinations to date including; Italy, Poland, South America, Australia and New Zealand. When she’s at home, She’ll either grab a book, play the piano, draw or do some cooking (but not baking!).  In the warmer weather, she’ll hop into her car and go for a drive in the countryside or head outdoors and go hiking with friends.
