The Minister for Tourism Catherine Martin TD in partnership with Fáilte Ireland has recently announced a €17m scheme to provide funding for individual tourism and hospitality businesses to develop permanent outdoor public dining spaces. The new initiative is also teaming up with local authorities across the country to develop medium to large-scale permanent public dining spaces with weatherproofing for year-round dining.
The €17m scheme is to help facilitate outdoor dining for businesses that serve food. The Grants will average about €4,000 for each location.
Who is eligible for the grant?
Businesses who serve food; hotels, cafes, restaurants, and attractions.
What can businesses use the grant for?
To help offset the costs of upgrading their premises for outdoor dining and seating, including weatherproofing.
How are the local authorities involved?
Local authorities can apply for funding of €200,000 for the following:-
• Development of medium to large-scale permanent public dining spaces
• Upgrade and enhance streets and public spaces
• Weatherproofing for year-round dining; parasols, wind breakers, and electric heaters.
