South Dublin’s Best Young Entrepreneurs

LEO_YEOTY_Web-26 I had the pleasure of being asked to judge at this year’s South Dublin’s Best Young Entrepreneurs competition run by the South Dublin Local Enterprise Office (LEO). It forms part of the larger Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (#IBYE) competition, with the eventual winners going on to represent South Dublin at national level. Throughout I was taken back by the confidence of these young entrepreneurs. Each contestant had an unwavering belief in their business idea and their sheer enthusiasm shone through in their presentations. From a business viewpoint it was encouraging to see the structures and support the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, through LEOs, are offering these young entrepreneurs. The hope being that these young entrepreneurs will go on to create new jobs in our economy. Unfortunately on the day there could only be one winner in each category: Best New Idea, Best Start-Up and an overall South Dublin “Best Young Entrepreneur” selected from these two category winners. However on the basis of what I saw I have no doubt that all participants will go on to have very successful careers. Best of luck to all of them!
