Companies Act 2014 and Accounting Year Ends

tax document The ongoing confusion regarding what statutory references to include in our financial statements continues for accounts being signed after 1 June 2015, the date of the commencement order of the new Companies Act 2014. Approximately two weeks ago the Companies Office  issued a circular stating that if accounts are signed after the date of the commencement order, but had a year end from before the commencement order,   the CRO would accept financial statements with either the old or the new statutory references. However there now appears to have been a uturn in approach and upon reviewing the CRO’s website yesterday evening it now appears that any financial statements signed after 1 June 2015 will now require the new statutory references. This will obviously pose huge problems for practitioners who have yet to receive sample accounts from the various bodies.  As and when we have any further updates we shall of course let you know.
