Do You Keep A Register of Employees?

Employer’s obligation

All employers are obliged to hold a register of employees working within their business.

Penalty of €4,000

The Revenue Commissioners may impose a penalty of €4,000 on an employer where they fail to keep, maintain or produce on request a register of employees in respect of all employees.

Information required in the Register of Employees

The register of employees must include the name, address, PPSN, start date and finish date (if applicable) for all employees whether full-time, casual or part-time.

Where To Keep the Register of Employees

The register should be kept at the normal place of employment of each employee or at the main place of business of the employer, even if the employer uses the services of an agent for payroll purposes.
