This Act was signed into law on 6th November 2012. One of the provisions of this Act, amends the threshold amount for disclosure of political donations on an annual return form completed by a company, society or trade union.

Effective from 7th November 2013, the threshold for disclosure of amounts paid as political donations is reduced from €5,079 to €200 and any annual return submitted to the CRO must thereafter include political donations made at the lower figure.

Separate from the return requirement, from January 1st 2013, any donation made in excess of €200 must be registered with the Standards in Public Office Commission.
